Samsung Officially Announced Galaxy Note 3 Phablet at IFA

Samsung today unveiled Galaxy Note 3 at IFA, Samsung’s latest addition to its Note series. It is lighter and bigger than Note 2 weighing just 168 grams. Note 3 will be available in 3 colours White,Black and Blush Pink. Shipping of Note 3 will be started on Sept 25th world-wide and It will be priced near about 699 Euro / 749 Euro for the 32 GB and 64 GB. Let’s have a look over what changes have been done in Note 3 :

Display

This phone has 5.7-inch (386 ppi) Super AMOLED screen with Full HD resolution comparatively 0.2 inch larger and sharper than Note 2’s 5.5-inch (267 ppi).

Processor

Depends on variants, There are two variants which looks identical.Note 3 have Exynos 5420 Octa-Core CPU based on ARM’s big.LITTLE technology with Quad Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 1.9GHz and Quad Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.3GHz and 6-Core Mali-T628 GPU running at 600MHz or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad-Core CPU with a clock speed of 2.3GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU running at 450MHz (depends on the variants available in Market).

RAM

Note 3 is the world’s first device to be equipped with 3GB LPDDR3 RAM.

Operating System

Note 3 comes pre Installed with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which S3 and S4 will be getting in October 2013.

Battery &  Storage

This giant workhorse has 3200 mAh battery so that you can work smoothly without any hurdle. Even after reducing weight and increasing screen size Samsung yet did not compromise with battery. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be available in two storage options one is 32 gb while other is 64 gb and it will also be expandable through external memory.

Camera

Galaxy Note 3 has 13 megapixel rear camera with Smart Stabilization and high CRI LED flash, Galaxy Note 3 produces very sharp images even in low light. It can record videos in Ultra HD (4K) at 30 FPS.Note 3 also have a front facing 2 Megapixel camera with Smart Stabilization, and can record video in Full HD (1080p) at 30 FPS.

Build Quality

Finally Samsung came to know where it is lacking behind,Samsung used cheap glossy plastic (which it used to call HyperGlaze layer) in it’s all high-end Galaxy devices which made consumers go towards phones by other manufacturers provided Aluminium unibody at same price.To combat this, Samsung uses a new leather-effect design in the Note 3. A faux-leather textured rear and delicate stitching on the edges of the back panel giving user a premium feel but as it is a synthetic leather,it is not durable.  

New Features

Samsung focused on S Pen and introduced air commands in which you get air commands option as soon as you hover S Pen on Galaxy Note 3 or press the button on S Pen. Keeping in mind regarding multi tasking Samsung also introduced a new feature Pen Window by which you can quickly access other app while using the app you are already in.  

Verdict

Although Samsung has done major improvements in Note 3  but there is no new innovation or feature to die for, It’s just bigger version of Galaxy S4. By increasing screen size Samsung made it almost impossible to use it with single hand and also synthetic leather used is not durable but 5.7-inch (386 ppi) Super AMOLED screen is sharp and mind blowing. If you are a Note 2 user then you can miss this upgrade. Many more cool Phablets are yet to come like HTC One Max and Nexus 5.
